Hi everyone,

I have a tufts interview coming in a couple of weeks. Can anyone give any pointers about the interview? And what types of questions were asked? Any input appreciated..thanks!

congrulations on your interview 🙂
They do interviews right after your lunch. I was eating lunch and talking to this student and my interviewer just took me to this room. He was 4th yr student. He had a paper with bunch of questions and my essay. He didnt' ask about my grades. Some of his questions were "why dentistry" "what are your hobbies" "what is origami ?(I talked about it in my essay)" and "if you have to pick a country to visit, where would you go and why?"

good luck.

When I was there, the morning consisted of the good old information session followed by a tour (very unstressful). Then came lunch. I sat down and started talking to one of the students about how she liked the school. In the middle of my sandwich, I was tapped on the shoulder by an older professor and told me it was time to go (it was as if the grim reaper had come for me😱 ). As soon as he opened his mouth, I knew I was going to be okay. Furthermore, the student whom I was talking to at lunch happened to be one of my interviewers as well. She didn't say much though. Just added a few questions at the end. I think she was there to make me feel more comfortable.

In the begining, the interview consisted of typical questions about the application. Then there were some more thought provoking questions but nothing that stumped me. For instance, one question was "what about dentistry excites you". Just be honest and, remember, you don't have to answer right away (think about it a little). Overall, the interview was casual and very laid back. I noticed alot of joking around and I felt they were trying to get to know me better rather than get me to screw up. Just remember to be yourself and don't be nervous. You are in good shape...once they ask for an interview, you have about an 85% chance of getting in. Good luck.

I interviewed at Tufts early December, and it is one of the best interviews I've ever had. It is very unstressful, I talked with a student as well.

The interview is "blind" meaning that the interviewer does not get to see your academic record but just your personal statement, and your application. They ask typical questions such as "why do you want to pursue dentistry?" and "what are your strength and weakness?"

Make sure you know what you wrote in your essay because your interviewer will have read that when he/she interviews you.

Hope this helps.
