Hey everyone.... I just got an interview to Tufts University. Im excited but scared at the same time. I've never been to Boston before. I was wondering if anyone had an Interview to Tufts on November 22nd???

Just watch good will hunting it will teach you everything you need for Boston
you like apples?

I've never been to Boston before either.. my interview is Nov 12, so feel free to pm me after that date and I can let you know how it was!

can someone who already had their interview share their experience? did they really ask a lot of "tough questions" like they said they would in their invitation email?

I believe their first day of interview is Nov. 1.

i live in boston. i may be biased, but boston is a great city, nothing to be scared about (and even the interview). just try to enjoy every aspect of your trip!

question: those who got interviews with tufts, when was your app complete date?

I just got an interview at Tufts too 😀, but mine is Dec 2.

reallly? on their letter they say that they are gonna ask tough questions???

well, sort of: "You should anticipate challenging questions and understand that your responses will provide the adcom with a more informed blah blah blah..."

(in the invite email)

Other than the high price tag, is it considered to be a solid program? It looks gorgeous and flashy and new, and everyone who interviews there likes it, but i'm having trouble finding honest, candid opinions/experiences from current students. I guess they are too busy.

I am from the northeast and around these parts Tufts is supposedly well known as being a great dental school, especially in the tri-state area (NY, CT, NJ) from my experience. Also, I was surprised when I told regular people, classmates etc. I was applying to dental school that many recommended I apply to tufts...so a lot of non-dental folk know Tufts as a good dental school. Purely opinion and word of mouth though; I don't know about the actual experience.

Well they gave me the option to pick from a few different dates
my options are: nov 22.. nov 23.. nov 29.. nov 30.. dec 2.. dec 6.. but I haven't picked a date yet.. Im leaning toward nov. 22.. but I really don't want go alone.. so I'm trying to find someone to go up with and share the price of a hotel.. they're pretty expensive over there.

Flashy and new, yes. But you will only use the simulation clinic... the rest is all post-grad. We do move into the the old floors occupied by PG, so that will be nice.

As for experiences. Well, it's a big school and it's a bit chaotic at times. I feel that the professor/student ratio in the preclinic is poor. Though I assume this is something that is happening across the nation. Though the large student body sometimes exacerbates the issue.

Students are nice and laid back... there is a lot of variation from class to class, but in general, a good group.

PM if you have more questions.

I interviewed there a few days ago and it was a great experience. I was also prepared to be "drilled" with some tough questions, but the interview was nothing like that. They were extremely friendly, laid back, and the interview (that was with a dental resident and a D4) was just a friendly conversation.

The day starts out with a few presentations, followed by a tour of the dental school, then lunch, then a 2 hour Q&A session with Jeff, of the academic deans. During the 1-hour lunch, the interviewees get to mingle and ask questions to Professors, residents, and dental students. Half way through lunch the interviewer finds you in the crowd and takes you into a room for the "formal" interview (which was actually pretty laid back for the most part).

For all those of you who got an interview there already, one word of advice: relax! They emphasized the fact that they do most of their screening pre-interview. So if you get invited for one, chances are pretty high you'll get accepted. In fact, the first slide of the presentation were admission statistics. They accept around 70-80% of their interviewed applicants, put 10-15% on the waitlist, and the remaining are either put on hold or rejected.

I hope this helps. PM me if you have any other questions.
