Does Tufts has a facebook page? If not, i'm definitely going to make one today. I would love to get to know people before school starts.

Tufts will send you a package with a list of apt finder websites and phone numbers to call. You can also start by going through Craigslist for apts. If you're lucky, you can find a place thats rented out privately for pretty cheap.

I plan on living at home and commuting (1 hr). I hope it works out well so I can save some money. If I were you I'd consider places on the orange line, like malden. I dont think malden is too expensive. I wouldn't live in the dorms b/c I heard that they are gross and rodents have been spotted etc. Craigslist is great to get an idea. I ended up renting a place I found on there last year for undergrad.

Maruididi - in terms of housing it really depends on how much you want to spend and how far from school you want to be. The T (which is the public transportation system) is really good. I would be happy to help you find a good neighboorhood if you are not from Boston. There are lots of nice and fun places to live that cater to students and then there are some places you want to stay away from. Let me know if I can be any help.
