Tufts POST DEC interview

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Have you already been accepted somewhere else? If so, then the plane flight isn't gonna be the only really expensive part. Mucho más $$$ at the Boston schools, if you know what I mean.

If you're worried about cash, just stick with what you've already got. Keep that money for a nice beach hotel stay before dental school starts! 👍

Im interviewing at tufts on Feb. 10th, got a flight plus hotel (one they said is only 3 min. walk from the school) for $376. Thats pretty cheap all things considered. If you have an offer you're happy with however, then just stay home. 👍

Hey guys!

I just got a interview invite from Tufts:luck:! I'm really excited about the interview and was curious of what my chances would be for acceptance interviewing this late?

I read that if you get an interview invite, that you have a 70-80% chance of getting in. Can anyone confirm this? It's going to be really expensive to fly out so I'm trying to finalize my decision to go or not.

Thanks in advance for any help!!

I disagree with the "if you're happy, stay home" sentiment. This is a huge decision after all - 4 years and $200k+. I went into the Tufts interview earlier this week very lackadaisically because I had been pretty set on a decision for dental school. But, I was pleasantly surprised - it was a great interview and is a phenomenal school and, by the end of the interview, found myself very engaged and interested in the school. I would highly recommend you go to this interview. It may change your mind as it will likely change mine if I receive an acceptance.

The "save your money for a weekend at the beach" argument is ******ed for many reasons; I can elaborate if necessary in a later post.

-wahoo.

They are half way through already. so that 70-80 thing is diminishing. but during my interview they did say 70-80 percent is accepted.

Go!

Well if the flight isn't too expensive.

I got accepted to NYU but everyone told me to go check Tufts out because it's a great, beautiful school and it's always nice to have options so why not. I went (I took a $30 bus ride to and from New York so cost/travel wasn't a big factor, and I stayed at the Double Tree)

And Tufts blew me away. The day of my interview was the clearest, most sunny, beautiful day out of a week filled with winter storms so I'm hoping that's a great sign. And from the tour to the financial aid presentation to the interview to yet ANOTHER presentation, it was the most thorough presentation of any school I had gone to (I did only go to 3 tho). They were all super nice and yeah, you have a really good chance of getting in.

They only interview the best 10% of the applicant pool so getting an interview is an honor in itself. It's always best to check another school out instead of thinking "Oh what if..." But again, it's up to you due to financial reasons. But since you do have a 70-80% chance of getting in, what's it going to hurt?

I should be finding out sometime later today or early next week if I get in and if I do, I will most likely be going there! Loved it!

I interviewed at Tufts earlier this week. When did they say they would let us know? I thought they said they would send out letters next Tuesday, so I'm guessing we wouldn't find out until later next week. How would we find out today...through AADSAS? Have people in the past found out on AADSAS before they received their letters?

Yeah, AADSAS should be updated they said by tonight or early next week. We would definitely know before we get the letter in the mail. I interviewed last week. Keeping my fingers crossed!!:xf:

i interviewed there on tuesday of this week and they said we'd know by tuesday of next week on aadsas

I recently went to Tufts. Really liked it! Vertical Expansion --> new and high tech classrooms. You'd have to see it for yourself. I definitely think you should go. Though money is tight, I look at it like this: what's $300 for a flight in the grand scheme of things? Is your future and happiness in a school valued at that? Up to you, but I say take every opportunity you can get. You never know what you'll find.

Tuft's only interviews the best 10% of the applicant pool? This can't be based on GPA/DAT can it? ADEA's Official Guide has their avg GPA/DAT pretty average. Am I missing something?

By the way, I think Tuft's is a terrific program.

Not yet, I heard the decisions will be out by Tuesday both on AADSAS and by snailmail. But we won't get our snailmail until later in the week I think.

Hi, for those of you who have interviewed at Tufts, how many ppl do they generally interview per day?

The 10% of the applicant pool that they think is the "best" in terms of all different factors including community service, personal statement, etc. Not only based on GPA, DAT. And they do a really really thorough screening of the application before handing out interviews, which is why only 10% get interviewed and they started interviewing "late".

I can't wait to find out if I'm in or not!!

Hi, for those of you who have interviewed at Tufts, how many ppl do they generally interview per day?

It varies on the day. At my interview there were around 15, but the week before there was a crazy snowstorm so only 6 people showed up even though classes were cancelled lol. So yeah I guess it depends on how many people accept the interview offer and which days fill up, etc.

Anyone heard anything today yet? What the hell is taking them so long. I woke up like 6 times in the middle of the night to check aadsas

Thanks. Yeah, I assumed it was relative. I was asking because at other schools I visited, they flat out said they usually accepted people within the top 5% of the DAT. It's funny how each school has their own way of making us feel like they are the best! 🙂

Ugh, waiting!!! Lol

Congrats everyone, I just got in too! So excited!!! Did any of you interview Jan. 21?

For those that interviewed already, did you have to fill out or sign any supplemental material? I'm still waiting for my interview packet. I have an interview in 1.5 wk.

congrats to everyone who made it!

i'm interviewing at tufts this friday and was wondering if anyone could plz give me some tips about the interview..

i had 6 interviews total w/ no acceptances. it's probably cuz of my low gpa (3.3/3.2), but its weird how they gave me interviews but no acceptances. some say it's b/c i lack interview skills or something.... i really donno...

tufts is my first choice, but i'm getting really desperate now with my standing at other schools........

could anyone please pm me with any advice? what are some good questions to ask the interviewers? what should i know before going in?

thanks in advance! GL to everyone else as well!

I have been at work all day, and I finally got to check AADSAS....Offer made!!!!!!!!!

Yay me too. DO you guys know anything about BU.I was wondering if i should still go to BU's interview.

Same here, interviewed last Tuesday 1/25 and status changed to Offer Made yesterday!!!

This might be a dumb question, but do we have 15 days from the date of the aadsas change or the date that the letter is mailed/received to submit our paperwork/deposit/background check?

I asked the same question during my interview day and was told that it is 15 days for the date of the letter. Ms. Friedman explained that it would be clearly stated on the letter when the payment is due! Hope that helps.

I have my interview at Tufts in two weeks...was the interview open or closed file? Thank you for the help. Best of luck to everyone!

Do I have any chance???

I have similar stat as yours and I got accepted to Tufts. But I started with low undergrad GPA than yours and I have 2 years of Post Bac with 4.0 GPA and one years (still in the program) of Master program in Columbia University with 3.7 GPA. I raised GPA to 3.27 and slight better DAT. I think you have good chance if you have great GPA (3.8 and up) for last few years....

Yes it is an acceptance! yay!!

my background check got done within 6 hours ... "within 3-5 days" my butt! lol i guess that's always a good thing being cleared that fast on a background check 😉 hahah

do you mind if i ask you when you applied? i'm still hoping / waiting for an interview here but i applied relatively late (end of september). not sure if i should give up on this school or not..

Thanks a lot. I am currently enrolled at UTHSCSA in Dental Laboratory Science one year program and I maintain 4.0 GPA so far. One more semester to go.

I'd kill for your scores. Sure there are a lot of go-getters in this forum who get a lot higher (but NOT higher than your PAT or Math...wow!!!), but your scores are definitely going to make the cut at more than 20% of the schools you apply to.

Wow, I'm in your same boat! Submitted AADSAS in mid-July, 18/17/21, 3.53, 3.44, and haven't gotten a single interview! 19 schools and 10 rejections. What the...? Guys are worried about choosing which school to go to right now! I'm just trying to stay calm since I have no control on their decisions.

For those who interviewed last week,
will we be getting our decisions via aadsas tomorrow?
the adcom is meeting today, right?

Yes, the meeting is today, so hopefully tomorrow. I believe they said Thursday at the latest. Then again, this hasn't stopped me from refreshing AADSAS every 15 minutes today...

I thought the earliest was thursday? with a definite response by friday...hmm. The earlier the better i guess

Hmm I had thought definitely by Thursday. The people last week started finding out on Tuesday, so I had thought there may be some hope...

AADSAS just updated! Offer made! So happy, it's my first acceptance 🙂
