Rec'd Tufts secondary letter via snail mail today. You will need to have this letter because is gives you your TUSM Secondary Application SAA # that you apparently need to enter in the appropriate place on Tufts secondary form on-line.

how many essays on their secondary, if i may ask please.

The secondary is posted on the website. There is only one essay asking whether you have a reason for picking Boston/Tufts. If you are applying to a combined degree program, then you must write additional essays.

for the tufts secondary, it says the the "overwhelming majority" of applicants do not have a "personal" reason for going to tufts..

should I still write an essay about why I want to go there or do you think they are discouraging it?

Do you have good reasons? Or the standard "I like your location/curriculum?"

is it worth writing the generic good location/school/people for the essay or would you rec leaving it blank?

I'm going to leave it blank, it sounds like they've heard it all before.

I'm with you there, Pinkertinkle. I got my authorization code today too.

they require full size envelope????

Yeah they sure are picky. Why do they want a copy of the AMCAS application?

i'm so poor i don't know if i can afford the full size envelope or the cost of printing out my amcas. i think i'll have to stop by the mall water fountain tomorrow

but really it is unusual

Can you answer the secondary with: "Because I enjoy over $160,000 in debt!"

 Sorry, cant help it; the price of Tufts and lack of scholarships/grants just puts it out of my league.

I would say it depends on how bad you want to go to Tufts. If it is really bad, then definitely fill it out. If it is not one of your top choices or such, I'd leave it blank. My feeling is a lot of peeps are gonna leave it blank, but many will fill it out too, so if you can write something unique then it will help you the most.

Imagine how many reams of paper they'll save.

Hi everyone...

is anyone else having trouble accessing the Tufts secondary pdf file online? I've tried numerous times and it makes me wait forever and then it just ends up being an error page.

Thank you!

follow - i didnt have trouble with it, but i did save it to my desktop, so if you want me to i can email it to you and see if itll work that way? PM me w/ your email address if you want to give that a go...

also - i didnt get the secondary code in the mail, but i called the admissions office and the woman gave it to me over the phone, just as an FYI for you guys

I'd guess because they'd have easier access to see the schools you applied to. I wonder how many people they catch during an interview that responded to the question "Why do you want to go to Tufts?" :

"So, you say you love the New England area more than anything, and there's no where else you'd rather study medicine. So why did you apply to every single school in California, Washington, and even Puerto Rico?!"

I think if you read the instructions, don't they say that you can take out the part of the AMCAS that lists the schools you have applied to? Thats what I did.

Yeah, I cut mine off.

my personal fav. was the explicit instructions as to how to affix your picture to the app. it now has me all paranoid when attaching pics for other schools -- will i be insulting them if i staple it instead of using a glue stick??

but if they really wanted to, they could get a good guess of how many schools you applied to since you aren't cutting off the end, but just a middle portion.

shoot....i missed that part of the instructions....would it really matter if i stapled it?

To really impress them, use your photoshopping skills to make it look as if you applied to Tufts only, or Boston schools only, etc...

Extracredit for that for sure.

I think the only way a glue stick would hurt you is if your picture fell off.

I highly doubt that a stapled picture would blow you up. But then again, this whole process mystifies me.

Also, I sent my secondary in without deleting the schools. I had only northeastern schools though, so I have nothing (much) to hide.

Heh, who knows? Maybe they want to see who can follow directions and who can't? 😉

Is the Tufts secondary password protected? I cant seem to add any text using the full version of Adobe.

Edit: Oops NM. I didnt realize they had two different forms up.
