Tufts vs MCP vs NYMC vs SUNY Syracuse

a ny resident, got accepted to suny syracuse. want to become an ob/gyn. still have interviews @ tufts, mcp, nymc. are all those private schools really worth the $$$?

NO. tufts is the only one worth it cuz of its reputation. but is it worth all that money? ask katie what she thinks. she'll probably see your post pretty soon. she's a tufts student. let's wait. "katie...oh katie....!"

I concur with Caveman about Tufts being the most reputable school between those four. They are all around the same price, 30-35K for tuition, overall costs around 50-55K. If it were my choice between those private schools and my state school, I would gladly choose my state school and its tuition is 25K! The only thing that you may want to consider is location. NYMC is outside of NYC, maybe 40-50 minutes by train. Tufts is in Boston. MCP is about a 10 minute train ride from the heart of Philly.

I was accepted to NYMC and MCP and withdrew my interview offer from Tufts, so I had a similar debate a few months ago.

you are currently in nyc so maybe you dont want to leave the city life? but suny is a good school (although it isnt tufts) and syracuse is actually a fun city. the medical school is right on the hill with Syracuse Univ. and the city has lots going on, although you would have to look a little closer than what you are used to in nyc.

but hey, the price you cant beat. your standard of living is much cheaper than most other schools and the tuition is really cheap. you will be thankful at the end of med school. and who says you can do a residency in the big city when actually do make some money.

I have been to all 4 schools and would pick Upstate over the three private schools mentioned. Tufts is good, but not that good. MCP and NYMC were both impressive, but not for me.
