I just got an update on AADSAS that SIU accepted me. I did not receive an email or a phone call but I assume that it is not a mistake. Right? Anyway, I am holding a seat at Tufts right now. Can anyone tell me their opinion on SIU vs. Tufts? Thanks! I really appreciate some input.

1. IF you live in Illinois .... NO CHOICE go to SIU.

2. IF you are a small town/farm kid .... go to SIU.

3. If you grew up in the east coast Megalopolis ... go to Tufts.

4. If being integral part of a big university is important ... go to Tufts.

5. If "the arts" are important to you... go to Tufts.

6. If you like hunting, fishing, boating ... go to SIU.

7. If you are a Red Sox, Pats, Bruins or Big East fan ... go to Tufts.

8. If you are a Cards, Rams, Blues or Big 10 fan go to SIU.

9. If you like being humbled, groveling, belittlement and hard work with little recognition you can be happy at either place.

Thanks for the reply. I am from IL. What do you mean by number 9?

SIU is much cheaper

Are you an in-state resident for SIU? If so, then going there would be better financially. It seems like SIU tuition is pretty high, almost comparable to Tufts, for out-of-state students. If you're out-of-state, then I would personally choose Tufts for the location.

Edit: Ooops, just read that you're an IL resident. Go to SIU.

Dental school will break you down with no promise of rebuilding you back up
Oh was that it? I've already been through a program similar. Yea, it breaks you down but as long as you are ready its fine. Plus I've taken most of the graduate courses already. So most of first year will be a review. Thanks though!

Why, did you go to medical school for a year or something?

I did a one year master's at Rush University Medical Center. The 9 month program is a little more intensive then the M1 year. It prepares you well.
