im a wv resident and trying to decide weither to attend wvu or tufts. balancing the pros and the cons of both school.
im wondering if its worth the "name" and the price to attend tufts??? does it matter once you are done with your degree where it came from?

Hey Sophie, I guess that all depends. Do you want to leave West Virginia for Boston? What was your gut feeling about each school? Personally, with the more than 35K difference, I'd in all likelihood take advantage of the state tuition and go to WVU. Very few if any patients will care where you graduated from, although I like the sound of D.M.D. more than D.D.S. That's just me though and they're equivalent degrees anyway.

You must have been really impressed with Tufts if you're having a lot of trouble deciding. I very close to choosing Tufts as well, but I don't have that 12K per year tuition beckoning to me either. Whichever school you choose, you'll get your degree and go on to be a great professional. I've been told that it does matter to some degree where you went if you're planning to specialize or go into academia, lecturing, or research, but then again that's just what I've heard!
