Hi Guys,

I didn't see anything quite like this in any other thread, but I though it might be helpful to compile a list of the most recent tuition rates.

I input the first six schools. If you have some info or time, just keep the format, add to the list alphabetically, and copy and paste the whole thing in a new post.

Try to go straight to the horses mouth (i.e. web pages run by the veterinary school itself rather than Princeton review or other third parties that are likely to be inaccurate).

And make sure to provide a link in case someone wants to quickly check for updates, discrepancies etc.

I'm not sure if you know this already, but the information is available by school on the AAVMC webpage. If you go to the sidebar and select "applying to colleges" and "college specifications", there is a pretty large list of at least the US schools with tuition information and other application information.

I don't remember off the top of my head, but I think they take very few OOSers? Something like that.

Thanks for your responses guys.

Redhead - I found the info on aavmc http://www.aavmc.org/vmcas/College_Requirements.htm
and the ones I looked at had tuition information for 2009-2010.

It may be worthwhile (?) to keep this thread going to compile the most recent info since I've heard some schools have had big tuition hikes recently. (Most schools have posted 2010-2011 tuition rates by now).

TheDogisGreen - I couldn't access your link, but I found the document here:
http://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q...ZNevqH&sig=AHIEtbQIDw7_qxORBg3L-vylLHMer1X9VA

This is pretty close to the info that I found . . . and organized nicely as well . . . it should be a great resource for those of us interested in tuition comparisons. Thx!

There are about 20 spots out of a class of 80. And I think everyone should definitely apply to Wisconsin (in my completely biased opinion).😀

I had no idea you Americans had it so rough with In-state costs.. 🙁 :scared:

Now I feel so lucky to be in Canada

Wow, Wisconsin's OOS tuition is quite low!

Maybe I should apply there next year....

Ack! It's even lower than my IS (Davis)! That just seems wrong, haha.

And, probably, by next year Wisconsin will be cheaper than CSU's IS tuition as well. I just wish it wasn't so blasted COLD in Madison! I applied there this year. If I get accepted, I'll have to think about whether I can manage the frigid temps. When you want to do food animal, the weather is a bit more relevant! :scared: Brrr!

Oy vey. Why doesn't NJ have an in-state school? I am going to go yell at my parents for not realizing before my birth that I will become a vet, then researching the benefits of living in the same state as a vet school, then moving their entire lives to one of those states. How dare them!

Haha! I was born an in-stater (Maryland), was stuck there for the first 15 years of my life, moved to Pennsylvania for another two, and then my father decided to take a job in a state with no program and no contracts. Boo. I love it where I'm at now, and plan to return post-grad... but I am so not loving the loans I'm going to graduate with should I ever end up getting accepted! 😛

I am a born and raised NJ-ite too. My parents have recently decided to move to RI, another state without a vet school!
But I moved to Pa right after undergrad and been living here for over 3 yrs now working, thus establishing residency here! (I did however had to give up my super-cool NJ driver's license. 🙁)

When I was in undergrad, NJ had a deal with Cornell vet and there were a ton of people in my graduating class who went there. I think a yr or 2 after I graduated that deal ended. Now its only Tufts and Oklahoma which have a couple of seats each for NJ residents. Bummer.

RI is awesome... aside from the lack of a veterinary program. I wonder why none of the northeastern-ish schools (here's looking at you, Tufts and Cornell... especially Tufts) contract with RI.

An aside: RI does not have super-cool drivers' licenses. Despite some pretty major improvements made a few years back. 😉

LMAO. NJ residents in OK? A natural fit? Too funny.

Hehe. The only thing those 2 states have in common is that they both grow corn.

Doesn't matter so much for me now that I'm a Pa resident. I know someone from NJ who ended up out there, she did just fine. 🙂 When I was first looking into vet schools a couple of years ago I start looking up where the schools are located....that was scary hr in my life.

My parents actually laughed at me when I told them I applied to Miss. State.

Looking at they're financial aid page it seems they grant in state tuition to non residents after 12 months of starting the program!

awww crap, didn't read the most fine line, you are probably right...bummer

Many already know this, but WSU actually allows you to switch to IS tuition after your first year if you have jumped all the necessary hoops.

What! That is awesome! Seems like a stupid move on their part. I will be married by the time vet school starts, and am hoping having a husband living and working in the state I go to school in will help me out a bit in this regard. :xf:

For anyone considering applying to Texas A&M as an OOSer, they allow everyone to pay IS price as long as you maintain above a 3.0, I believe.
