I seem to recall that Tulane has a program designed for waitlisted applicants who fail to get admitted. Basically the program involves these students taking classes and tests along with actual medical students in order to show that they can hack it in med school. Does anyone have more details about this program and info on how I can apply?

When I interviewed there, I got a ride to the school with 2 guys doing that program. If I remember correctly (sp?), they spend the first year taking all the anatomical sciences classes with the true 1st years, and if they pass, they enter into the next year's entering class. I guess they have a leg up on the competition...

The program is ACP Anatomy Certification Program. You must be on a waitlist to get into it and admissions is competitive. I had some friends do it basically you take the first semester of the med school classes excluding foundations in medicine, this includes Anatomy, embryo, histo, neuro and one or two other things. You take all classes with the T-1 class at tulane and you are integrated with the students and school. Your preformance is evaluated relative to the first year med school class. This is a great program with over an 80 % matriculation rate after completion. They say that finishing it does not ensure admissions to Tulane the following year, but I don't know of anyone who did it that did not get in next year.
