The Specimen is received in formalin in 2 containers.

Container 1 coded as "Tumour mass".It consists of multiple pinkish brown soft tissue fragments with papillary appearance measuring 2.5 x 2.5 cm in agg. Entirely submitted in cassette 1 container 2 coded as "Mucosal base". It consists of multiple light brown soft to firm irregular tissue fragments measuring 1 X 0.6 cm in agg. Entirely submitted in cassette 2 (SMD).

MICROSCOPIC DESC

Sections examined from "Tumour mass" reveal multiple fragments infiltrated by a malignant neoplastic lesion arranged in papillary configuration. The papillae are lined by neoplastic cells exhibiting plemorphism having hyperchromatic, round to oval nuclei with inconspicuous to prominent nucleoli and abundant eosinophilic cytoplasm. Brisk mitotic activity is appreciated in all layers.

Sections examined from "Mucosal base" reveal unremarkable detrusor muscle with focal lymphocytic aggregates. There is no evidence of malignancy.

Diagnosis

1- Tumor mass:
High grade urothelial papillary (Transitional) cell carcinoma according to ISUP/WHO classification of urothelial neoplasms.

2- Mucosal Base:
Detrusor muscle is negative for invasion"
