Hi guys, wondering if u can help me out on this. Do u need to write a letter of withdrawl if u called to cancel an interview? I mean its pretty obvious u don't want to be considered anymore, right? Also, if u chose the "no" box when the school send u the acceptance letter, do u still need to write a letter of withdrawl?
Thanks a bunch!!

nope, you dont need to withdraw unless you accept an acceptance.

if you dont send in a secondary, cancel an interview, or say no to an acceptance offer and send it back, there is nothing else you need to do

oh....thanks....
but is it polite to just send them a letter saying i don't want to be considered anymore for all the other schools that hasn't even given me an interview yet if i already got accepted into my first choice school?
oh yeah, and do u know if i need to send in a letter of confirmation to the school i wanna go, just so that they know i'll go there for sure, reason i ask this is cuz i'm an international student and would like to have my i20 so i can start applying for a visa asap. so a letter of confirmation would be a good idea?
thanks

Some schools (like Vanderbilt) specifically want you to write a formal letter accepting the offer of acceptance. Other schools probably just let you check a box and mail back a card. Either way, I think you should let them know that you accept a place in the class, whether it's by a formal letter or just a form they ask you to fill out and sign.

When I called to cancel my remaining interviews I was asked at 50% of the schools to send them a formal letter of withdraw. The other schools took my withdraw over the phone.

If they don't say one way or another, then I would email or fax them a formal withdraw so they can get you out of their system.

yeah when i get invites i want to turn down. i call the school to let them know but they always tell me to send a written letter making it official.

ie UIC.
