Do any of you guys use it? I have an account and haven't done much with it. I think I am going to try to update it with short blurbs about soft tissue and dermpath (super nerdy, right?). Figure I don't have much interesting to say, so I might as well try to be helpful. If anyone is interested, feel free to check it out:

I have neither a facebook page nor a twitter account. More than enough of my time is spent online as it is. Not to mention the fact that I have worked hard to avoid contact with most of the people I knew from high school...why would I want to make it easier for individuals I have no desire to talk to to find and pester me? 😛

👍 I feel the same way. Verbatim.

I confess that Facebook has been interesting just to see a few names and faces I otherwise never would, but I spend exceedingly little time actually reading/writing anything there. I do briefly peruse photos of new contacts (old friends, for the most part), and it suffices as a way to keep widely scattered family updated on family without relying solely on relatively bland email.

Twitter still seems like a puerile fad, though. I really don't get it. Nothing about following, or publishing, mini-text lists interests me yet. Maybe it's my first exodus from newfangled methods, which in my (relative) youth I was so deeply engaged. Or maybe it's the fallout from my youth which was partially drowned in the sheer volume of posts, emails, etc., and I simply can't take any more!

Except for this, I can't actually think of any Facebook/twitter stuff that's been publicized for pathology. They probably exist, though.

Yeah, I don't really "get" twitter. Thus, I figure I should try it out to see what the big deal is. Facebook and Linked In have been great ways to keep in touch and up to date with friends and family, and both have helped me to network with new colleagues that I meet at pathology meetings.

Facebook is great when you have kids, because you can send pictures to all of these distant cousins, aunts, college friends, etc. That was the main reason I joined it.

When your children grow up, Facebook is an easy way for them to send pictures of their adventures also.
