1. Since this is obviously a timed essay, they don't expect you to be 100% mistake-free. What's the proper thing to do if you need to "cross out" a word or two? A simple clean horizontal line through the error?

And, building on that:

2. Anyone ever use erasable pens? 😛

answer to your question: that's perfectly fine.

I use normal pen with white out tapes. seems to work for me 🙂

I wouldn't stress about it--I just scribbled out mistakes and got an R, which I was more than happy with. 😉

I seriously wouldn't worry about it - i wrote the MCAT last August, and was very worried about the WS - in one of the essays i scribbled out an entire paragraph and i didn't even completely finish the second essay and i scored an S 😱 [how i managed that i'll never know, but I certainly wasn't going to ask any questions!]

Hmmm, didn't even consider that. That's allowed?

Good question. Are the white out tapes allowed?

Also, does anyone know if it has to be a black pen? Is blue alright? I'm assuming, any other color is just irritating to read.

I used black erasable pens and got an R, but I really don't think it matters if you cross things out as long as they can follow what your writing. I would be wary of the white out strips, some proctors are really strict and only allow you to have the pen and your booklets.
