No one has been talking about these so I wanted to bring them to everyone's attention. The University of Oregon and Portland State University both have post-baccs. Depending on what you want, you can do it in one year by doing the general chemistry sequence during the summer and then taking the organic, biology, and physics during the school year followed by august mcat, or obviously spread it out further. The U of O is probably the better school but PSU is supposed to also have a good pre-med support. If you can somehow demonstrate residency the portland program is less than 6000 for the year plus summer school costs if you choose to do that. The U of O's program is slightly more but less than $15k. Who the hell wants to pay $25k or more to do a post bac? Let's not get ahead of ourselves here, it's not actually medical school.

*double post, sorry*

Do they have any linkages?
No, note that most linkages are to private schools, and that there are no private (MD) med schools in the northwest.

Both PSU and UofO are in my GPA repair list stickied above. I second the recommendation for PSU - I know of current med students who went there, and it's the farthest-northwest structured postbac in the country.

Edit: oops, no I didn't include PSU in the GPA repair list, based on their program's specificity for folks who haven't done the prereqs yet. But we have talked about it in this forum, most recently here: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=628739

Right, no linkages--there aren't many medical schools in that area, OHSU is the one in Oregon although it is incredibly expensive. U of Washington is not going to take you unless you're from there. Looks pretty easy on application to PSU to get Oregon residency.
