Two years at CC, then two years at university. Bad idea?

There's a strong chance that I'll be going to community college next year, and then transferring to a large university like UF, or USF. There are a lot of reasons for this, like the fact that my parents think I'm too young to be living in a dorm (I'm 15), and the fact that we don't have a lot of money.

So my question is this, will getting some of my pre-med reqs at a Community college be a bad idea?
Or will the medical admissions committee look at it and say "Oh, that kid went to CC, he's no good"?

Note: I'm eligible for the honors courses.

Thanks guys!

If you are a transfer student, it is acceptable. Basically if you are going to do this, you would want to take higher level science courses at the university you transfer to. Get A's in your pre reqs at the CC, transfer, and then pull more A's in the higher level sciences courses and that will show med schools that you can handle the work. Also, a lot of medical schools understand that not everyone is made of money (my family included). You will be fine, but just make sure you stay on top of your work, get the volunteer/clinical experience, etc. Do what you need to do.

It's looked down upon to take the pre-req's at a CC. But technically it still qualifies.

Someone else can expand...
This is kind of false.

As long as you can prove you can handle course work from a major university the fact that you went to a CC is not really going to matter. The intro classes are the same everywhere anyways. No one school teaches mitosis or equilibrium better than another.

The fact that you are 15 and have a compelling reason as to WHY you went to a CC would help negate any negative feelings anyways.

Kids Go from CC to University to Med school all the time, the stigma is, I expect, imaginary.

As I often say, Medical schools look at applicants to fill spots, not applications.

If you intend on becoming a science major, take prereqs at a community college. Not doing so is just foolish, as it would just delay completion of your degree. You can take upperlevel science courses at the 4-year university, anyway, which adcoms could use to compare to your CC-level coursework. If you intend on becoming a non-science major, though, I'd save some some of the prereqs for university.
