I've noticed quite a bit of texans out here on this forum, and i need to know if texas has any requirements med students need to fulfill in order to get a residency there...for example, california has family practice/ca letter, pennsylvania has some reqs too....but what about texas? i've heard about family practice and possible neuro? any truth??? thanks

First of all, are you an IMG? For the longest time, TX required 4 weeks of neuro, but because of one medical school in TX (not sure which one) didn't require their students to take Neuro, there was a problem and TX dropped it. Knowing how anal TX is though, as soon as those graduates have all obtained residencies, that school will then require neuro and TX will go back to it's stubborn ways. If you are an IMG, almost impossible, unless you are doing family medicine...maybe IM. There are some IMGs getting spots in areas such as surgery and other competitive residencies in TX, but those are few are far between and they pretty much have the hook ups.
