i was wondering what an average day is like for a practicing pm&r physician. someone share what they do everyday!
Just shadowed 4 docs, each day was 8:30-5ish, all 4 do strictly outpatient, no call, very happy, laid back. Saw lots of joint pain (sacroiliac, carple tunnel, scapular, rotator cuff, scaphoid fracture, back pain), steroid/lidocaine injections. Very impressed with improvement in these patient's quality of life. They love their PM&R docs. Wife of one of the docs told me this field is a godsend for their family. Her husband loves his job and they plenty of time to ski, bike, and play with their newborn.
If you like pain management, disabled pts, injured patients, and mostly outpatient clinic (some inpatient coverage if you choose), not to mention decent pay for great hours, then this may be the field for you.
