I've heard from 6 of the 18 schools I've applied to... 3 interview invitations, 3 rejections. All of my secondaries were complete in mid to late July. Is this a typical number to have heard back from as of today? I'm paranoid that I might have missed some emails...

Can't you just check your spam folder?

I've heard from 11 of 20, 5 interviews, 1 small-pool, a few post-secondary holds and rejections.

But I think it depends pretty heavily on what schools you apply to.

applied to 26
6 int 4 rejection...

really slow

I have heard something beyond "you are complete" from 10 of 17 schools. I think that may be a little better than average.

OP, I think you are around average, maybe a tad low, with your response rate.

It all depends on which schools, you know. You should be hearing from your state schools and the rollers earlier...the non rolling / high prestige schools vary a lot, but I think it is normal to have not heard from most of them yet.

I've heard from 12 of 21 schools. So about half seems right. Some places are just slow.

ya id agree with that, although it definitely depends when you were complete too. ive heard from 14/23 and was complete at most in july or august.

Complete at most at the end of August or beginning of September.

24 Total.

2 Interviews. 2 Holds. 1 Rejection. 19 Silence.

I think there are too many variables. It mainly depends on the schools you chose to apply to and how each processes applications. You could simply be on the lower half of the stack of applications...or, maybe one or both of your reviewers is taking their time...who knows? I really wouldn't start getting worried until around the New Year...and even then, there are still ~2 months left for things to get poppin'. lol Just be grateful for the ones you have positively heard back from. I know there are plenty of applicants wishing they had just one invite...

I applied to twelve schools, albeit two of them late. I have recieved 2 interviews, 2 holds and no rejections.

this.

i applied to 18. have gotten 9 interviews, 1 hold, 2 rejections. silence from 6.

I don't think there is really such a thing as "typical" bc a lot of folks dont hear till much later and still end up fine.

Asking on these boards is likely to give you a skewed answer as well, as it should be kept in mind that the majority of SDN posters are quite proactive and likely above average compared to your standard applicant, both in terms of statistics and when they applied.

As for myself, I sit at 6/18. 2 each of rejections, holds, and interviews. My interviews are solely from state schools, however.

8 interviews out of 10 schools, silence from the other 2. I think I just picked some really fast schools.

3 rejections, 1 hold, 18 silent. so 4/22

Applied to 25 schools. 7 invites, 4 rejections, 3 withdraws, rest silent.

11 Schools, 10 interviews (done with them as of yesterday!) and 1 silence. But TX schools shouldn't count: they FLY.

Applied to 22 schools, 4 interviews (Texas) 18 ultra silent

7 interviews, 1 rejection and 1 hold from 13 schools.

To show how competitive Cali schools are: I applied to 7 California schools IS and got 2 interviews, 1 rejection, and no news from 4 (probably rejection by this point since everything was done in early July). I applied to 6 midwestern schools and got 5 interviews.

6/20. 5 rejections, 1 interview (state school.) I think Im gonna be one of those waiting til march for interviews people

Applied to 21
Interview invites from 12
Withdrew from 5
Silence from 4

Man do I feel better after hearing that.

Applied to 15 schools on June 24, 2 more 2 weeks later and final 2 on Jul 24.

Have been rejected from 6, 1 hold, 6 interviews, (all done) and waiting on 6 one of which is harvard and a guaranteed rejection, (mayo, hopkins, pritzker all rejected me so I am assuming I have no shot)

Of my 6 interviews I have a shot at 5, 2 of which I will be hearing from on Friday Oct 16.

Needless to say I would like to have some more interviews lined up before oct 16.

You applied a lot earlier than me. I wish I could have as I'm sure it would have helped but I had to retake my MCAT which pushed my earliest completion date at the end of August. It was definitely worth the retake, however.

You should relax. 5+ interviews is an extremely healthy amount and most would be overjoyed with that many. Good luck to you!

Sorry guys, MAJOR noob question, but what does a hold mean?
I can assume it means that it's neither a rejection, nor an acceptance. But what exactly does it mean?

A hold is when they've looked at your application once and instead of rejecting you or inviting you to an interview, they put you on hold to be looked at again at a later date. So it's like they aren't sure if they want to interview you or not and put you in the "maybe" pile. Although for some schools, they put everyone they don't invite on hold and wait until months later to reject anyone.

I applied to eight schools and have interviews from three of them. Five have been silent.

Great! thanks for the explanation.

Applied to 35 schools, 9 post-secondary holds, 0 interviews (MCAT<30 but >27), 2 rejections, 24 silent, so heard from 11/35

Any idea which school's fall in the everyone put on hold category? Is UCSD one of them?

I hear ya, same MCAT as you and no interviews thus far. What are the chances of being accepted after an interview in March? Aren't most schools on a rolling admissions basis? Any post-secondary holds for you?
