U Maryland PD thoughts

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I just started a thread about this

See thread - university of Maryland dismissal policy

I think the current program director is the one who dismissed four neurology residents in less than 5 years... they haven’t changed and student doctor tracks posts on this from 2 years ago

Thanks. Also heard ‘bad’ things about this program.

Didn't apply to UM, but the neuro reddit suggests that multiple applicants had negative interview experiences there

negative experience. The area around UM is not safe too.

I'm a current resident. The PD is AWESOME and very supportive. There appears to be some haters on here w axes to grind. I'm very happy w my choice to attend Ummc and would recommend it to anyone looking for excellent training in a fun city. Make up your own mind. Take anonymous factually incorrect gossip for what it is.... Crap.

What do you like about that program/ what do you do in that city as well I had heard some stuff about bad neighborhoods but I don’t know how that overlaps with the rotation sites.

Too much crime in the area, drive-by shootings. I am not sure about the rotation sites.

Program is very supportive with an awesome chairman and PD. Very responsive to resident needs. The residency is expanding so more elective time for pgy2 and 3. Good pathology. Excellent nurses. Many subspecialties are top tier. Baltimore is fun and affordable. There are no 'drive-by's by the hospital lol. That is just so ridiculous. Some really lame ppl on here only posting during match season. If you interviewed here then you should have a good view of what the program is.
