hii! for those who got interviews at u penn or had them...where did you stay?? I am spending a boat load on this trip.... i have to pay for my flight, then cabs, and now i was looking up hotels near by and they are all close to or over a $100! I was just wondering where everyone else stayed?

i'm staying at an econo lodge about 9 miles from penn for $60/night + tax. check out expedia if u're interested 😎

Thanks Loodidoo found it . Great Price!!!!!!!!!

mine is oct 26th too. I am leaving to NYC right after the interview but I'm not sure what's the best way(cheapest) . Any body knows where I can catch a bus to NYC from philadelphia???? Please helpppp

you could also take a train. i'm not completely sure on the website but i believe its www.septa.com. if thats not it, google septa.

I stayed at latham hotel, turned out that the price was a lot cheaper if you mention penn rate. (even though wasn't one of the hotels the school listed that they accept penn rate.) Ask anyway whether they have penn rate at places you are staying. it's a little bit cheaper that way.

you don't have to stay at sheraton or inn at penn. they are close to
school but taking a cab to school from my hotel was only like 5 bucks. I had fun staying in the middle of downtown/shopping area.

The most inexpensive way to do it is to catch a chinatown bus. I travelled from NY to Philly and it costed me $10. The bus was not the cleanest, but I wouldn't mind taking it again myself since even the cheapest Amtrak ticket is about $60.
I stayed at Comfort Inn in the Historic Area and liked it a lot. My room was specious, and the hotel had free high speed internet access, free breakfast, and free shuttle services that takes you anywhere within 20 blocks. It's a little far from Penn, though. It takes about 20 minutes of driving, and it costs about $15-20 if you take a taxi.

Yeah, if you're going just one way from NYC to Philly, go with the Chinatown bus (10 bucks one way, 20 round trip). In NYC, the ticket both is at E. 88th and Broadway. Make sure you get on a 2000Coach bus. Trust me, you'll get swarmed with people trying to get you to go on their bus if you look lost, so just make sure! That will take you to 11th and Filbert (right in Center City), and from there you can take SEPTA (the subway system) on 12th and Market to Penn's campus. If you're going to stay over night, I would definately go outside of Philly. Anywhere about a half hour away should give you a good price. Also, if you don't want to take the Chinatown bus, go with Greyhound's 24 dollar roundtrip deal. It'll take you from port authority to 11th and Filbert.

For a cheap rental car, you could go with PhillyCarShare. I haven't tried it yet myself, but it looks like a good deal.

Good luck!

You can stay in center city for 80 bucks a night...Best Western...tell them you are visiting Temple or UPenn.

To all of those that have their UPenn inteview on October 26, would you please send me ur feedback after your interview? I have it a week after! thanks ..............
😍

I understand the rationale about staying outside of Philly and driving in but if you really want to experience the area and see if it is the place to spend $300k, I would spend the extra $50 and stay in University City or Center City. The Sheraton is nice and close on 34th st. and the Inn at Penn is probably one of the nicest places I have ever stayed (36thish). If you stay in Center City, a cab to University City is less than $10 and the SEPTA is $2. You could also crash on my futon about a block away from school but you would have to give me your free lunch. Let me know if you have any questions about Penn.

Is there a bus station close to school??? I've been checking the chinatown website and seems there is only one station. Also, does anyone from nyc know which one of these station is closer to Manhattan : 88 E broadway,,, 156 E broadway,,, 13 Allen st. I'm trying to go to marriot hotel located at "East Elmhurst, New York 11369 USA "
thanks for your help guys,
