University of Alaska Anchorage. Did anyone here graduate from this University? I'm thinking of getting another undergrad in Biochem here.

Didn't go there but I've visited and it's VERY cold. Any particular reason why you are interested in this school? Based on your wording, it sounds like you've already graduated from somewhere else at some point. If this is true, why not just do a post-bacc??

I didn't go to school at UAA but I do teach there (microbiology).

do you live in Anchorage currently and don't want to move? Are you an AK resident and would get in-state tuition?

If either of those are the case then cool, but I certainly wouldn't pick up my life and move to AK just for UAA... I don't think there's anything related to academics that wouldn't be as good/better at another university.

OP's location: Irvine, CA.

That's going to be a huge adjustment to the weather.

Oops didn't notice!! Yeah wow, there's a zillion schools in Cali, no need to come up here without a good reason!! It costs A LOT to get all your stuff up here, and I only came from seattle.

BS in business admin... sigh 🙁.. I want a science background and I have funds available so... i'm thinking this might be the way.

I live in California and there are no admissions for spring ZERO no one is getting accepted. Fall 2010 is the soonest. Also Cali residents and Veterans get in state tuition. So.. yeah.. there you go 🙂

I have not been to Iraq, but I am a native Chicagoan and definitely have been laughing at the weather at the places I've been interviewing and the warm-climate applicants that look very worried when sub-zero temperatures are mentioned, lol

Why don't you just take the requisite science courses at a local school? This wouldn't necessarily require being admitted to the school, would it? Redoing undergrad in Alaska seems like a lot to go through for someone who already has a degree. Plus, given that you are posting on SDN, I'm guessing that you are pre-med or at least considering medicine. This is a long, long road to travel as it is, only to be compounded by going back for another undergraduate degree. Whatever you decide, though, best of luck to you.

The reason i'm considering moving out of state is because California isn't admitting anyone for spring 2010. The state schools have closed down admissions because of the budget crisis. Yes i'm taking my premed at a CC currently. I need the math, physics, and organic and most universities only require 30credits or less for residency which I could finish in a year. I could fall right into a chemistry degree with a few extra classes...so.. why not. I'm one of those people who enjoys class. 🙂
