Uab Interview Next Friday!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
you have a panel interview (usually three teachers) and a one on one interview (usually with dr. simon).
I've interviewed at several schools an honestly, I felt UAB's was the most relaxed and personal. They will of course ask about your education and experience. But certainly be prepared to speak in length about yourself. They want to know what you do for fun, hobbies, books you've read. They also like to know about any research you have done (I had none) and what your goals are once becoming an optometrist. Don't sweat it. You'll do great. I can't emphasize enough how laid back the interviews were. You WON'T get a full tour of the campus, just the EYE CENTER, so make sure you check out what else UABSO has to offer. I was accepted there, and got a regional seat, but decided to go to SCO instead, they were tied in almost every category when I was deciding schools, SCO was just a bit more affordable. Hope your admissions process goes well!

Thank you so much for the information. Congratulations on your acceptance and good luck! 🙂

I have an interview next Friday for UAB, can anyone provide some examples of questions they ask? What are some ways I can prepare? I appreciate any commentary!

Click the Questions tab at the bottom to see specific questions that previous interviewees were asked.

When I prepare for an interview, I write out my answers to any questions that I think I might be asked. Then I practice my answers (out loud, not just in your head...since you'll be answering out loud and not in your head on interview day 😉). It helps me feel more comfortable about the direction I would go with a question. Several times I've stopped myself while practicing and been like "Yea no...I'm going off topic." Good luck!
