Hi-

I'm a college senior this year, which means that I'm finishing undergrad in Spring '07. I was doing research on Univeridad de Autionoma in Gualadajara. Does anyone attend the med school there? If so, how's the curriculum, faculty, grad rate, etc? Also, how difficult it is to get a placement in residency in the U.S. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

hey future_MD26, I think you'll get more answers at http://www.valuemd.com because that site is catered more towards international students.

I've recently graduated from the UAG Medical School and I can tell you it's a very good school, especially for a US student. It's the oldest private college in Mexico and it does have an outstanding reputation in Mexico as well in the US. As for it's faculty, I can only say that I was well educated and had many practice opportunities since my first semester, the professors are always demanding but can always be reached for questions and comments. As for the international program, there are many US, Puerto Rican and foreign medical students who continuisly support themselves and many of them reach residency positions in the US fairly well. I can only say that it's a good medical school in a great place in Guadalajara. The living costs are not high and it has a very vast culture. It's a very good choice, it was for me as well.

To add, I've done a couple rotations at a very good, top-ranked hospital in the US. When there, I met a lot of mexican graduates, some from UAG. I was extremely impressed with their knowledge, smarts and clinical competency/efficiency . I wanted to be them 😉
