So the other day I finally narrowed it down to UB over Stony brook and NYU. Now on the way to cleveland, got a call and was accepted to Rochester...Now I'm in a bit of a pickle....any ideas?

Thanks,
matt

Rochester. I went there undergrad and know several current m2s. They love it. Plus the biopsychosocial focus is awesome... Good luck with the decision.

Cost?

Rochester if they are comparable.

rochester is 40K w/o living expenses, and buffalo, being a suny school is 20k w/o living

you must be an upstater (or have some sort of upstate NY bias) because your decisions are sortof confusing to me

in my view if cost isn't an issue then:
NYU > SB = Rochester > UB

if cost is an issue and the privates will be more expensive than the publics then:
SB > NYU > Rochester = UB

But again, i might have a heavy downstate NY bias

First off, congrats!!

I'm a first year student at Rochester and I love it here. I am not from NY, so I didn't apply to any of the SUNYs, so I can't really compare Rochester and Buffalo for you. But, I can tell you that I chose Rochester over my state school even though my state school was cheaper. I chose Rochester because I decided happiness was worth the extra money to me. If I have to spend 4 years at a place, I don't want to be miserable or not feel at home. Also, as far as living expenses go here in Rochester... rent is super manageable.

People responding to this thread will have opinions either regarding money, prestige, or anecdotes. I say, go where you think you will be happiest. You just need to decide what factors make you happy.

:luck:

another quick question...since today is may 15th, and i heard today, about geting off rochester's WL, i do have to decide and decline one of them tonight? or no?

thanks again...this is all getting to be a bit ridiculous

I'm pretty sure you're in the clear. I don't think they'd expect you to decide so quickly.

haha i will...and this decision is killing me

the one thing really holding me back is the financial stuff...obviously i dont know my financial aid package yet, but i have undergrad debt and im going to be getting a lot more at rochester than at ub :-\
