so i completed my primaries, secondaries, all my recs are in the schools, my transcripts are all sent it.

i have a strong gpa both science and cumulative, my ec's are strong, i am a non-traditional applicant, but i have had much research done, volunteer, showding etc;

only problem is, being that i am non-traditional, i just finished pre-med course work, and so am taking the mcat on jan 30th.

obviously, i am taking the gamble..having had my application only looked at after my scores come in (end of feb).....anyone been in the same situation as i have. i havent put off taking the mcats, but as a non-trad, i did not have a choice.

any input?

-any help is much appreciated.

Lily, obviously you are running the risk of being wait listed if schools are still interviewing when your stuff is complete. However, if you have everything else complete keep going. If you must, use this cycle to
to become familiar with this nerve-racking process and apply again next year, just earlier. Best of luck!!

Did you check to make sure that schools accept MCAT scores beyond the august/september dates? I know a lot of MD schools do not accept scores after that but not sure about DO. I would contact individual schools to find out their policies.

This information can be found in the CIB that is in the 2009-2010 important links at the top of the pre-DO section. Each school lists whether they take Jan MCAT scores or not.

yup i did the research and applied to only schools who accept jan scores.

just wanted to know if anyone has done the same, etc...and received a positive response.

thank you for the help!

happy holidays! =)

A couple of years ago my wife took the January MCAT and was accepted the same year. She didn't event get her secondary in until January.

There is nothing that you can do about it now except rock the MCAT.

Good Luck!

I am pretty much in the same boat. Dont take MCAT until Jan 29, and finishing up secondaries now. Figured I might as well take the chance, it could speed thing up by a year.
