I am currently a second year at UC Davis. My mind was set on majoring in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior but I started thinking about Human Development. I have already finished half of the pre-req's and only need to finish Organic Chemistry and Physics. I want to be a pediatrician and I don't know which major would suit me better. I haven't really taken any Human development classes so any personal insight for both majors would be nice. Also, which major will help me prepare for medical school or the MCAT? Thank you in advance.

They both will help you for medical school and the MCAT, but I would choose human development beause it makes you a more unique applicant compared to the regular bio route.

I totally agree. I majored in cell biology with the idea that I will be learning anatomy and physiology in medical school anyway, so I wanted to spend my undergraduate years learning what makes those systems work on a cellular level. I think the same can be said about HDE; however, I did also take basic NPB classes so wouldn't be completely lost. 🙂

Thank you! Do you have any insight on HDE as a major? Is it as competitive as NPB?
