Anyone get an interview for this program?? Or, know of the details behind how they pick their interviewees (do they have a separate adcom, or does UCDavis have to pick them to interview first before being passed on to Rural-PRIME, etc)? Gracias muchachos!!😍

I just received an interview invite after being complete for 2.5 months. The e-mail said...

"The Committee does apologize for the delay
in notifying applicants of the status of their applications to the program.
There has been a tremendous interest in Rural-PRIME. As a result, the
Committee received many applications."

I hope that helps.

this doesn't totally answer your question but when i called yesterday to schedule my rural prime interview they told me that the interview i will have (one day of interviews--and on special days designated for rural-prime) will determine if i am recommended for the md program + prime, or md only, or neither....

Okay, so that means we will be interviewed on that day, and then they will decide if they want us for Rural-PRIME or only for MD? That means if we arent selected for Rural PRIME, then we still have a chance for the MD program, right? And if so, would we have to interview again, this time only for the MD program?? Sorry for all the questions! (I also got an interview invite...what days are you all interviewing?)

sassy--it seems from what i asked and was told when i scheduled my interview (though if this is wrong someone please correct me) that our interview encompasses the school of medicine and prime interviews--and they will base their decisions for both or either or neither depending on the interviews from that one day.

i scheduled the first available they gave me =)

Thanks for the input. I think we will be interviewing on the same day! (First available on the email)

For people who applied to the PRIME program, what was your mcat, if you don't mind my asking?

Is there anyone on SDN that is currently a Rural-PRIME student at UC Davis? Any insight into the program?

I don't know. I'm an MS I at UC Davis but not PRIME. I have a few friends who are, though. If you want to ask me questions, I'll be happy to forward them on (none are on SDN).

They seem happy with PRIME. You have the pretty much the same experience for the first two years of medical school, except in a class we call Doctoring. In this course, one of the components is five afternoons with a doctor that you work with in a primary care setting. Non-PRIME students can fulfill this requirement by working in one of our student-run clinics. PRIME students do not fulfill it in Sacramento, but go to a more rural setting.

In the third year, they have certain rotations that they need to do in rural settings. You have some freedom in selection. Some folks went to work on Indian reservations and such. It sounded pretty cool.

They have a good cohort of students. They have occassional seminars that is just them. It seems like a great program.

I think this year will be more competitive than last year. It sounds like there are a lot more applications rolling in. I know that they are really looking for a commitment to rural underserved. This is more important than numbers.

Best of luck...

Another question...

For those of you who have interviewed at UC Davis this season, where will the interviews be located? Will we have to drive back and forth as others have done in the past based on SDN forums, or will the interviews be conducted solely in Sacramento (since construction is completed, right?)? Thanks guys 🙂

The interviews (faculty and student) are both located at the Sacramento campus. In the past, I think interviewees had to go from Sacramento to Davis for their student interviews since that's where the students were at the time. Now, the entire school is in Sacramento which makes it much easier.

also, do you guys know what days they hold interviews? (like mondays, tuesdays, etc.) thanks! 🙂

I Wanna Do This Program!!!!!!

Has anyone interviewed for Rural-PRIME? Let me know, I will be interviewing soon and I'd like to ask some questions.

i just did!! =) it was wonderful..i was very pleasantly surprised by davis, and the prime program seems to be a really good fit for my ultimate goals..PM me with your questions if you'd like!

Hey guys, I know it might be a little while, but can thoose of you who interviewed for Rural-PRIME let the rest of us know when you start hearing word from them post-interview? Thanks! 😀:luck::luck::luck:

I talked to Terri today, asking her about decisions regarding Rural-Prime applicants. She told me that the files haven't even gone to the committee yet. She said to wait a few weeks before any decisions.

Just received ANOTHER interview invite for UCD-PRIME, two weeks after calling in and declining the first interview. Weird.🙂

Does this mean they are still sending out interview invitations for PRIME? Anyone else get an invitation recently?

Congrats Chalo, good job!!! I got an invite for UCLA Prime yesterday 🙂

Best of luck at Davis.

Thanks! I wasn't so lucky with the UCLA PRIME interview though, pre-interview hold (nice way to say REJECTED 🙁)
