Okay, so I know this thread has been discussed before, but I'm completely torn by this decision.

I currently attend a JC and I was wondering which one has the best pre-dental program. I was set on Irvine until my teacher told me about the horrors of UCI biology majors, since he taught a post-baccalaureate program for several years.

City-wise, I love Irvine. I feel like I totally fit in. However, I promised myself that I would pick the one most suitable for dentistry and where I'd most likely succeed.

currently a 4th year at UCI here, what kind of horrors? hyper-competitive premeds? back-stabbing? studying only for grades? bunch of haters? yep UCI has all of them. However, you can pick your group of friends and stay neutral.
are you going to be commuting if you go to UCI? if so please do since you will save money by commuting.

as for pre-dent, their bio courses do prepare you well.

I mean I'm highly competitive myself, I just heard that UC Davis was more laid-back. How would you describe UCI's biology program?

lol I don't think biology program at any UC is laid back. UCI's biology program is considered good. you learn everything you needed to learn.

I graduated from UC Irvine last year as a bio major and from personal experience, I can't recall any "horrors" throughout my 4 years there. Yes, classes are hard but for the most part, there isn't really a competitive environment.Just study hard and focus on doing the best that you can, without worrying about how other people are doing in the class. Plus, their PRe Dental club is awesome 🙂 #shamelessplug

Perfect, thanks for your feedback! My decision to stick with Irvine sounds a lot more comforting now. I just wanted to make sure before finally making my decision
