Hi,

I got accepted from uc berkely and la (-transferred undergraduate), but I'm considering which one is better to choose if I plan to apply to the dental school after the graduation.

Some people say that it is better to get a good GPA in UCLA than lower GPA in Berkeley cuz it is diffcult to get a good grade in a big competition among the students.

Some people say that UCLA dental school dont much accept students attending undergrad in UCLA.

If you have some suggestion or idea, please share...

I went to UCD and UCB. I would go to UCLA for number of reasons.

#1. Quarter system, you get to know more faculties and easier to get letters (even though sem system you can get to know them more), and if gpa dips, you can bring it back up.
#2. UCLA is slightly easier. I don't expect UCLA to be as easy as UCD, but should be easier or the same as UCB.
#3. It has its own D-school. Exposure is much easier. I had to go to UCSF.

I can keep going. go to UCLA

Thanks,

Acutally Im living in the place 1hour away from LA,...
Is UCB area quite different from LA to adjust?

If getting lower gpa in better school, is lower gpa evaluted equally as higher gpa at lower-ranked school?

Sort of.
UCLA gives out a lot more A's than Cal would. And even after that, the people who get those A's in Cal, study 24/7.

GOOD LUCK

I personally chose UCLA over Cal because I thought it would be noticeably easier. Wrong! It's very, very competitive here. Not saying that it's harder/easier than Cal, but I'm positive that the academic experience is similar enough that you would pick one or the other for other reasons.

Maybe I'm biased (look at my nickname😉), but UCLA isn't easier than UCB.

It's all about how much you study and how smart you are.
As long as you stay in top 10% of every class, it's not that hard to keep 3.9~4.0 GPA.
It's sometimes hard because you do not study enough.
Just make sure you study 10 times more than what you did at community college. Then, you will be fine.

This is such a controversial subject, everyone in UCLA hates Cal because Cal gets all the attention. Cal does have amazing programs like Chem, Engin, and Math. I think top in the nation.

I love UCLA, because professors are nice and really cares about students. The classes are very competitive for those bio or bio chem major due to lots of pre-med and pre-pharm and pre-dent students. But I love here sooooo much, and I wish to stay here forever!!!!!🙂 I believe that you will be proud of being one part of bruin!

UCLA is just about as hard/easy as cal. No matter which one you chose, the best advice is to study your *** off.
