They said they are mailing out the information in a couple of days. You can actually pay online right now. I just don't know if I'm in Glenomera 1/2 or 3.

If Tony Nichol is still in charge of residences, maybe not ... 😀

I lived in Merville and was an RA for two years after in Belgrove. The new Glenomena residences I hear are supposed to be a luxury compared to those I used to live in 🙁

Still no word yet. I might just pay for Glen 1/2 and hope for the best.

My offer of residence in Glenomena came in on August 18 (Friday).

Which residence option did they give you?

The offer didn't say. However, they only asked for Euro 2,230, so I think that means it must be Glenomena 1 or 2, since Glenomena costs more according to the web site:

http://www.ucd.ie/residences/glenomena.html

It is possible, however, that in Glenomena 3 you pay the utilities deposit when you arrive or something. But I'm likely in 1 or 2.

Why must we pay through wire transfer? I can see the payment option online in my student account....

Anyways, does anyone know if there are places on campus where we can plug in for internet access instead of using their unsecure wireless? It would be foolish to do online banking using their wireless connection at Glenomena.

hey arb,
i called glenomena today - they said we have to pay via wire transfer or using the credit card form...unfortunately we can't pay over the phone or online...

Hey Arb,

I wouldn't worry about the UCD connection being unsecured. Most likely you will be required to log-on with your CAO # and password to access the wi-fi connection. Otherwise UCD would just be giving away connection to their network, and the security issues would be ridiculous.

Cheers,
Jocks

Hi Jocks,

Your electronic info will not be encrypted though. Anyone on the network with a little knowledge can capture your password, account #, etc. I guess it's a trust issue for me since I know how easy it is to obtain such applications.

How is your packing going? Have you sorted out everything with Glenomena and everything in general?

Also, did anyone get a stamp on their receipt card? The teller wouldn't stamp mine. The wire transfer information given in their form was also incomplete and had to use the bottom of the receipt form. What about the witness portion of the contract?

Hey does anyone know if the wi-fi access in glenomena is 802.11b or 802.11g. The website says b...but damn I'm hoping it's g.

Cheers,
Jocks

it says that it's b, but on res info sheet, they said that as long as you have a g on your computer, you can still connect...btw, what's the difference between a b and a g?

g is faster than b. higher bandwith connection. there is a new one available now in some places (most likely not ireland) that is faster than g. i think it's called a or something. can't remember but i know it's out there. even if you g in glenomena i wouldn't get excited because it won't be as fast as it should be.
