Can anyone comment on the UChic PSDP program? Does everyone who applies to UChic through ERAS get an invitation to apply to this program? Are there any current interns or residents who completed this secondary application to the PSDP and were interviewed for it? Thanks in advance.

I interviewed there a few years ago and really liked it. It wound up being my #3 (I matched at my #1) primarily because it's in Chicago (which neither my wife nor I love).

I applied to it directly so I can't comment on whether or not everybody gets that invitation but somehow I doubt it. They don't have that many spots so they can't offer it to everybody.

no that's incorrect. everyone who applies gets an invite whether or not they will ultimately invite you to interview. i know

Yeah, that's kinda what I figured. It seemed too good to be true otherwise haha. Other people on SDN from this application cycle, did you all get invited to submit the secondary app for UChic PSDP as well? Thanks!

yeah, I got it as well...it think a lot of programs do it (I know a few others who have done it already to me) just to advertise the existence of that program/track, in case someone who is qualified/interested was not previously aware of the option

I think I'm just so anxious for good news that I convinced myself that it was "special" to receive that email from UChicago. It seems like a pretty standard email to all ERAS applicants to the program. I guess I can dream lol.

UofM, would you mind sharing which other programs had sent out emails about special programs/tracks?

actually, I have to correct myself, UIC is the only program who has done that alone...the other two schools I had in mind, OSU and Case both did a similar advertisement with the interview invitation, so students could be directed/interviewed appropriately depending on interest

Still a bit confused about the PSDP program...

1) Is there anyone from this application cycle who applied to UChicago and did not receive the PSDP supplemental application?

2) Is there anyone from previous application cycles who completed the PSDP application and still did not receive an UChic interview invite?

3) For this application cycle, when is the due date for the PSDP application? It did not really say on the email...

I am pretty sure every applicant who has applied to UC has received it. If you look back at last year's interview thread, it appears as if it was also sent out to everyone. I received the email, too.

From what I've heard most applicants get it (maybe if you've shown any interest/participation in research on your application). That would make sense because whereas some programs send you this type of notice in more of a 'our categorical program would like to interview you, are you interested in coming on one of the 'research-track' program days...my email from UChicago stated 'IF' you get an interview would you be interested in the short-track program?

That being said, I just submitted mine over the weekend via email and was curious what the turn-around time is on hearing back. Anyone else submit it and hear back already?

I'm really interested in these type of programs, my research only entails one summer and one pub lol. I don't feel like wasting their time. BTW-I got the same email.

My friend received an invite from them and she has only completed CS.
