I know these two have relatively traditional curricula, but could anyone give me their opinion on these two schools different stlye of teaching? For those of you that have interviewed at either place recently, what stood out? What didn't u like?

Both schools are very good and focused on training future leaders in medicine and academic physicians (not that this is the only emphasis). They are both very scholarly environments and you would do well at either school for residency. Wash U has more scholarships and better financial aid than U of Chicago and Wash U gives away a lot of merit scholarships. St. Louis is nice but I did like Chicago better. I would just hold on to both until you can go back for second look or you get a better financial aid package from one or the other. Either way the schools are great.

I would go to WashU in a heartbeat if I was accepted there. hell, i would've applied EDP if I thought I could be accepted there.
I went to undergrad at WashU, and everyoen was SOooo super friendly and happy there. I'm u nder the impression it continues for medical school. anyway, i haven't yet interviewed for WashU. ask me in december, then i'll tell how my interview went.

I interviewed at U of Chicago a few weeks ago.
What stood out was:
real emphasis on basic *fundamental* science during the first two years. kindof at a phd level (although that is not practical).
Do NOT go there for primary care (my interviewer said that was priztker's weakness), or if you have no interest in research.

But, I think, if you have no interest in research, you shouldn't go to WashU either. or at least, be hesitant about it. (i've heard there is a push for med student to do research).

so, i've lived in St. Louis during undergrad at WashU. and now I work at pritzker. about the cities, well, i'm sure you have an idea what chicago is like. St. Louis is relatively dull. It never bothered me, b/c there are plenty of fun student activities. also, living if chicago, i'm really really beginning to not tolerate such a urban place.
