UCI: holding vs. pending

is there a distinction here? is it better to be pending or holding? does pending mean you have not been looked at yet.... at all? or does it mean you have been looked at and are in line for an interview? or does holding means you have been looked at and are next in line? or does holding mean you are no longer pending and might never be interviewed?

I think pending means that you have not been reviewed yet or a decision has not been made yet. Hold means that you have been looked at and they do not want to interview yet but maybe in the future. My interpretation atleast ...

there was a huge thread on the UCI thread last year. if you search for it. then you will find it. but we all went through that crap last year too. if i remember correctly...then what the doktor said above is correct.
