Well i am from the bay area and i am now deciding which school to go to. I amhigh school student with a 3.6 GPA. I am planning to become a RN and then go on with a master in Administrative Nursing. I am still unsure if i would like to major in Pre-med in the future.

So now, i do not know which school is better to go to. Alot of people are saying that UCI is a much better school but i am not sure about how i will be over there since i will be so far away from the bay area which i am used to living at. SFSU is much closer. I am about 1 hour away from SFSU. But i am for sure planning to move away from where i am living at right now. If i got to SFSU I know that it will be much easier for me over there and less "competitiveness" but UCI has such a great reputation. My parents of course want to me to go to UCI since it has a "bigger" reputation but i heard that if looking for a job with be hard if i graduate from UCI than SFSU/UCSF

How abotu UCSF is that a good school for what nursing administration.

Also , does UCI have a great nursing program and does alot of UCI students who graduate from there live hear in the bay area?

Another question, UCI or UCSF.
fyi: i do not know if i want to major in pre-med. I am slightly afraid of the work/studying etc....

I am also a person who needs educational attention with teachers like at CSU's but UCI is such a great school and i don't know if i want to miss that opportunity.

Thank you so much! I really need the help. I need to know my decision by May 1 (UCI admission deadline) I hope you guys can help me.

i am not in premed yet (maybe) but i would really like your opinion knowing that you guys are premed STUDENTS.

Er...you might know this already, but you do realize UCSF doesn't have an undergrad department, right?

A mod will soon move this to prenursing where people will give u more helpful advice than we could here.

If you want to know whether you should be pre-med or not, it depends on what your career choice will ultimately be. If you want to become a nurse, then it's a waste of time to be a pre-med. And likewise, if your end goal is to become a physician, then it's a waste of time to get a degree in nursing and then a Master's in nursing administration. They both have very different philosophies towards patient care and different roles in the healthcare field. But either way, I don't think a school's reputation in one field alone should be the deciding factor. Most people change majors at least once if not more times while they are in college. If you choose a school because it's strong in nursing but only strong in nursing, then you are screwing yourself over if you change majors. That's why you should take into consideration other factors that are important to you such as location, proximity to family/friends (if you care about that), overall educational opportunities, cost of education, cost of living, etc. Make a list and see which school caters to more of your needs overall and not just your needs for your current career choice because that could very well be your old career choice after you find out how cool underwater basket weaving is.

the UCSF program is for Master's and Ph.D degrees so you would have to finish your BS at SFSU first.
