Hi, trust me, I've done extensive search throughout the SDN Forums about this topic. But I was wondering if there were any current or former UCLA Dental School students who know if UCLA has a hard time finding patients.

I'm not sure where this rumor started. Maybe there was a problem years ago or something. Regardless, I just graduated from UCLA and had no problem finding patients. I'm not sure about everyone in my class, but everything worked out great for me. Now that I'm out and have talked to graduates of other dental schools from around the country I'm learning we actually had it REALLY good at UCLA when it came to clinic, requirements, etc.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I'm very glad to hear that. Any other UCLA Students or alums that has info?

I would love to hear more about this issue !!!!!

I've heard so many positive things about UCLA.. anything you dont like about it? heehee~ thanks!

Ok I visited the school two weeks ago and I kid you not, this student was sitting down reading a magazine and I asked him for advice. He said that he was waiting for a patient to get there. I don't wanna go to a place where I have to wait for patients.

Look at Case you are given your own secretary. At NYU you can stay till 8pm to treat patients and you actually get paid for it. So what the hell!

We do see patients till 8pm but we don't get paid for it. In my dreams.

Any dental student who never had a late patient or no-show simply hasn't been in clinic long enough.

Every time I hear this comment about UCLA not having patients it makes me laugh. Why? Because I have more patients than I can treat. Why would you think we have a hard time getting patients? Because we're in a nice area?

There are only two dental schools in LA, a city of several million people, and our fees are less than half that of the cheapest private practice anywhere in LA. I have responded to comments like this dozens of times. People have cars in LA. You know the song "Nobody walks in LA". It's true. People drive anywhere from 5 minutes to 4 hours to be treated by dental students at UCLA. Good lord, what do you think we're doing the last two years of school? I'll put my clinical skills up against any other 4th year in the nation, or 3rd year in the case of UOP. 😀

Glad to hear the positive feedback from UCLA Students🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

But I was told by my tourguide that students who see a certain number of patients get paid. I guess that's not true.
