UCLA Life Science Series Out of Order
Does anyone know if it is possible to take Life Science 4 before Life Science 3? Due to schedule conflictions, I am unable to enroll in Life Science 3. Has anyone taken the LS series (excluding LS1) out of order before? I'm thinking about taking summer school in order to catch up. I've tried to enrolled in the equivalent of LS4 at another university and didn't have a problem at all. However, I'm afraid that UCLA will not accept the tranferred units since I haven't taken LS3 yet. Thanks🙂

i know for sure you don't have to take ls1 first, and you can go on to take ls2, 3, and 4. For ls 4, ls 3 is enforced pre-req. Unless you can go ask your counselor or something and get it waived....

It might look out of order, but the one might not be a pre-requisite for the other. Fall semester I took Biology 102 which is more microbiology based and 101 in the Spring (now) which is more so evolution/ecology based. They are both biology courses but since they have two different topics and you learn different information, you don't need 101 to take 102.

I know you aren't talking about biology courses but I thought the idea behind it was the same.

Maybe it helps.

In theory, it should be possible. Each of the LS series does not really build upon the knowledge of the previous LS course. However, I do think you have to start at LS 2 and work your way up. LS 1 can be taken at any time.

hint: Watch out for LS 1 and 3. LS 2 and 4 are relatively easy.

Chrism07 - about your Attitude = 100%.
Try doing a$$-kissing, it enables you to give more than 100%. (sad how in our society, this is actually true). Just food for though. (not that i support or condemn any of the above.)

I think the level of difficulty goes

LS4 > LS2 > LS3 > LS1

I don't know if this would help but I had a friend who took both LS3 and LS4 during same quarter. He was a transfer student also.

It depends on who your professor is too though.

LS 3 and LS 2 are totally different from each other. There's a reason why Phy Sci. majors enjoy LS2 while MIMG majors enjoy LS 3... requires a different type of learning if you get what I'm saying.

As far as going out of order, it doesn't matter, esp. if you took AP bio in h.s.

Only issue would be the enrollment if you are a full time UCLA student because I'm not sure if URSA would let you enroll in LS4 before LS 3 unless you implement a creative strategy

Not to get this thread off topic, but did any of you UCLA guys take Life Science 1 from Greg Graffin? If so, what was it like having the lead singer of Bad Religion as your professor? I think it would be awesome!
