IM interested in neurocritical care and looking for a research heavy, academic track neurology residency. How does this program stack up to the other "top" programs tossed around on this forum (mostly on the other coast)? To me it sounds like at UCLA you maybe more "in the trenches"?

UCLA is a good program, and would set you up well for an academic career (whatever that happens to mean to you). Stroke and NCC are well-respected there. The experience there wouldn't be any more "in the trenches" than a place like Partners on the East Coast.
