I went on an interview at UCLA and I am not the only one who didn't get enough information from UCLA during the interview. That was one of the things that gave me a bad impression of the program.. they didn't bother to stimulate us to go there...

Can any of you share what you know about UCLA?? Maybe a current student could help??

We would like to know the good and bad of the school. So far I just heard rumors that it is short in patients but that it never actually made someone not be able to graduate...

I would like to know the extra curricular opportunities the school offer ( for example: I know UOP offers invisalign.. UTHSCSA offers a chance of learning implants placement...) What does UCLA has that makes it a special program???

How are the facilities?? enough chairs??? They didn't even bother to show us the clinic 🙁
Made me think they don't care about the students...

UCLA don't care if you choose their program or not…but when become their student, they will take very good care of you. For examples:

-If you struggle academically, they will hire a tutor (usually the top student in your class) to help you.
- If you have personal problems (ie drug addiction, death in the family, illness) they allow you to take 1-2 year off.
-If you can't find patients to meet the graduation requirement, they will help find you the patients and they even help pay for the procedure….they paid 50% for my patient's bridge.
-When you apply for specialty programs, they help you get all the necessary letters of recommendation, transcripts and mail them out for free. They also help their former students so if you are out for 4-5 years and decide to go back to school to specialize, you would have no problem getting good letters of rec.

Don't let the old and ugly looking lab fool you. UCLA has a very strong pre-clinnical program. It is very strong in operative, fixed and removable prosth.

Good luck with your decision.
