Hey guys,

It looks like UCLA wants us to print out our completed app, rescan it back into the computer, and then save that as a PDF.

I realized that you could also just print to PDF to save the time/loss of quality in scanning.

This sounds silly, but does it matter which I do? lol

yea same question- can't you just save it as a pdf after you go to "print" (on a mac) ?

Hey guys, what batches were you from and when did you receive your UCLA secondary?

Of course it matters. If you don't scan it back it'll just throw your app away. You couldn't follow simple directions. How will you manage dental school. 😛

Honestly, I doubt they care. Its likely written up for a majority of people.

the only part is you'll still need to print out the signature page, sign it and scan it. Unless you have a wacom tablet or something similar to sign it.

Most people don't have access to a tablet so printing it all out, sign and rescan is just easier.

Haha, thanks herkulease, I was waiting for someone to call me out on the silliness. Just wanted to make sure.

But I don't think we have to manually sign it since it asks for an electronic signature.

I'm 2nd batch and I got the secondary on the 17th.

I think your correct. If it says "manual signature" all you have to do is type your name.

Actually I have a trick for these documents.
If you have a MAC OS lion. You can print it as a PDF, and open in Preview.
There you can open annotations toolbar and use digital signature creator. All you have to do is sign on a single paper and hold the paper infront of your webcam so that it'll capture the signature. Then you can use that captured signature and use it on any PDF that requires a signature. There should be a line to select on the page so that it can add signature to it.
Save the document and voila you got yourself a PDF with digital signature on it. Your signature is stored for future use if you wish you can delete it too, and redo this every time.

Windows users: Either get a mac or good luck finding a program that does this. I'm sure there are tons.

Hey guys thanks for the advice, but you can just type your name on the line:

"3. To provide an electronic signature, type your legal name on page 14."

lol I never applied to UCLA so I don't know I just gave signature advice lol.

I didn't apply to them this year. Last year there was no option to type out our names.

That's good for you guys though. Just print to pdf and call it a day. Saves paper and ink.

wait...i have a mac and i just downloaded the pdf onto my computer and filled it out. I saved it and emailed it as a pdf to the ucla email address they provided. Was that not the right way to do it?

To check if everything showed up I sent it to a PC and everything seemed fine. Am I doing something wrong?

thanks
