All,

1. Have you received interviews from these schools: UCLA, UOP and UCSF?
2. How were you contacted to schedule the interview date by the schools: phone, email, or letter?
3. Were you given several interview dates to choose or it was take it or leave it?

Thanks All,

This is as best as I can remember from last year's cycle:
1. I think I got a phone call from all three. Perhaps UCLA also emailed me, but I can't remember.
2. I scheduled all my interviews by phone. I received mail confirming my appointment.
3. All schools gave me several interview dates to choose from. Definitely was not take it or leave it. Remember, they want the best students just like you want the best school. They have something to offer and you have something to offer. It goes both ways.

Thanks.

1. UCSF interview invite today (Sept 8). UCLA said they wouldn't review my application until October.
2. The invite was sent by e-mail. I have to confirm within 3 business days either by e-mail or phone.
3. Still have to call them.

1. From last year, I remember that UCLA especially started reviewing applications late in the year. October/November, from what I recall. Do a search to verify this.

No one else out there has an interview from these schools? There is gotta be more.

Yeah, I'm surprised UCSF is doing everything so early. I'm almost expecting another e-mail something along the lines of, "Whoops, we accidentally e-mailed you an interview invite. Please rescind our invitation." Hopefully someone else will post and allay my fears...

Hey don't worry about it. Congrats on your invite! 👍 It's not a mistake b/c I received an interview invite yesterday as well. The email was very vague about how we are supposed to schedule an interview, so I emailed Daliah with dates that would be convenient for me.

Congrats to you guys with your UCSF invites! May I ask when your application at UCSF was completed? I just want to gauge the timeframe that they take to review the files. Thanks and again Congrats !

Hi Red823,

My application was complete as of Aug 28 (I took my first DAT and sent out my LOR and UCSF secondary mid-late August). Yeah, so UCSF appears to be super-organized this year.

Eddie830:

Dude, I know you! Did Daliah ever get back to you? Turns out they don't start interviews until Monday, Oct 18; I scheduled mine for that Friday.

Thanks Literati81

Best of luck with your interview. In the meantime I'll go back to checking my email and mail every hour 😀

For those of you that already had a UCLA interview...

Was your interview open or closed file?

Thanks!

It was an open file interview, and the two interviewers read over it right before they meet with you. They make you write an essay earlier in the day, and some of the other applicants where asked to discuss their essay as well.
The process takes a long time even though there are only 5 applicants, and of course I was last! I had a lot of time to think of good questions...

It was not as tough or scary as I thought it would be.

Good Luck!

Jessica

Thanks Jessica!

I have one more annoying question (I apologize for being so anal, it must be nerves kicking in)...

You mentioned 2 interviewers. Does this include the student interview?

Thanks again!

No, there was a student interview first with snacks (I went to the afternoon session), which I don't think really has much weight on your acceptance, but it is a good time to get honest feedback on your questions. And then after that there are the faculty interviews with two faculty members. Having two interviewers wasn't as intimidating as I thought it was going to be. It really was more of a conversation, and they want you to ask a lot of questions so have them ready!

Did you go to your UCSF interview yet? How did it go?

Good Luck with UCLA,

Jessica

Thanks for all your help!

Yup, I interviewed at UCSF last month. It went allright. Although in retrospect, I think I could have done better. There was one faculty interview and one student interview. Oh yeah, and the UCSF interview is closed file.

And, as a tip, read up on football before you go to interview. Just trust me on this one.
