Seems to me that the only real difference is the cost of living. Both have great career opportunities, and the differences in curriculum really don't matter because at the end of the day, medical school is medical school (had Duke been an option, that's a different story because they do an entire research year in M3). Career wise, both schools will take you wherever you want to go. 3 hr versus 5 hr plane ride from your boo is not really a big difference. Go where your heart tells you to go and don't try getting worked up about the small details.

Congrats on two very strong acceptances! Go where you will be happiest overall, no need to worry about minor details.

School-wise, you are looking at pretty similar options. Both schools have great opportunities and will be able to lead you where you want to go (if you want street/global, then go UCLA though). Either curriculum is fine and both are pass/fail. Both have great resources. The plane ride difference is negligible.

However, there is a huge difference between living in California and living in Georgia. While Atlanta is more modern and progressive than the surrounding areas, you will get most of the baggage and legislature that comes with living in Georgia. If I am reading into your factors right and the culture/demographics are important to you (international, ranking gayest cities, wanting large Asian population), then this may be an important point in the decision of where to live for 4+ years. Cost of living is important though, so if the cost difference between the two was astronomical then I would certainly go where it was cheaper. If it is a reasonable difference in loans, I'd go to whichever city environment you'd be happiest in. Having spent time in both, the cultures of those cities are often quite different.

UCLA does do an an entire research year in M3...

From your list, it feels like you want to go to UCLA but are on the fence worried. I would pick UCLA. It's hard to do better than UCLA and your desires seem to cater toward what UCLA offers. The distance from SO and increased CoL are challenges, but I don't think they overrule the opportunities at UCLA.

They are both great schools with similar opportunities, so you can’t go wrong with either. So it comes down to what is the most important to you, whether that is COL, proximity to support system, research opportunities, etc.

Sorry, didn’t have time to finish my last message. Only you can know for yourself. One of the biggest factors for me is I am staying close to home/SO and going to a school where I have a good friend at.
