Does anyone have suggestions about choosing between UCLA and UMich.
Total costs i.e. tuition, fees, living....+taxes would come to same at both places give or take a few thousands. So in terms of clinical exposure, is it really true that patients can be a bit hard to find in UCLA bcoz of it's "posh" location? I would appreciate greatly, any info. regarding this. (Ilovegoldens, I hope u see this as well :xf:and share your experience as a student at UCLA, I am curious to know why u ended up picking UCLA over the other schools, what changed your mind when u revisited this school after being accepted?)

Surely UCLA. I have been in the same dilemma as you two years ago. Multiple openings including UCLA, UMich, UCSF, UoP and USC. Right now I'm at the end of the UCLA program. UCLA is surely the best among them. Many factors
1. location, weather. No other place can be better than LA.
2. Expense..Not sure about UMich this year. But two years ago, UCLA tuition is the lowest among all above schools. The state just increased tuition this year due to the bad economy.
3. future. about 30% of UCLA graduate were accepted by some residency program. another 30% accepted by either GPR or AEGD program. The rest went to general practice. The name of UCLA helps a lot on getting interviews from graduate programs.
4. Pass and Faill system in UCLA. THIS IS A BIG PLUS!!! Much less stress during final. People are more likely to help each other instead of competing with each other.
5. Regarding clinical exposure. Lack of patients is not just a problem in UCLA, but also in many other dental schools. But, still, we have enough to finish the clinical requirements. It's not that bad. Over 90% students graduate on time last year as I knew.
There are many other plus for UCLA. You won't regret it once you are here.

Let me know if I can be any help.
Good luck!

Thank you very much, Bigheadfish, for taking the time out to put in a detailed response. Thanx to ILovegoldens for your feedback, as well. U both are awesome!!
