Uconn Students...

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Seeing that half of the posters are banned from SDN, I'll go out on a limb and say its nonsense. I wanted to go to UConn as well. They have great scholarship opportunities. Anyways, I'll totally pretend like I never saw that.

Yea you are probably right, I didn't realize it was a multiple choice poll with only 17 voters. 🙄

That previous thread is WAY over the top and very untrue as far as I have experienced so far. Granted, I'm a D1 that is only a few weeks in to my first year but everything so far has been very positive. Personally, the first few weeks have been great. With only 40 ppl in our class (which is a little less than normal), almost everyone in our class is very close. Even after the first few weeks it feels like a big family. We are also very connected with the classes above us.. at least the second years. We get a lot of amazing information from them and they really help in adjusting to dental school. Other than that, I haven't really noticed any competition between one another because we are pass/fail so we have no problem helping one another out. As far as professors go, we have only had a handful so far but there really isn't anything out of the ordinary so far. Just to let you guys know, I spoke with at least eight 3rd and 4th years before commiting here, and every single one of them said that if they had to do dental school over again, they would 100% choose UConn. They all said that the relationships they formed with our professors were amazing and that they got incredible letters of rec because they formed such close relationships with them. If you have any questions on specifics I will try to answer them to the best of my ability

baseballplayer9's description seems pretty similar to what I have seen (but then again, we are roommates haha). The only thing I will add is that the faculty that I have met seem very willing to help us out and lend a hand should the need arise. They have invited us over to their house to hang out, they give us their phone numbers and email to call if necessary, etc. Essentially, I have thus far been very happy with the atmosphere here; its very supportive and encouraging. We'll see what we think a few years from now though lol

Some of the faculty are acceptable, a few are excellent. The administration folks are arrogant, immature and unprofessional.
