Have to make a choice soon. Anyone have any input. UConn would be the least expensive as I am in state but haven't heard from them yet and have to choose from the other 3 and formulate plan b in case UConn doesn't come through. Any thoughts?

I've heard good things about the Columbia program about how people who go through it get accepted to top 20 medical schools. They also seem to have good linkage with other schools in NYC and Pennsylvania. If you can get loans to cover the cost, I think that would be a better option than UConn or Drexel.

I couldn't disagree more with Ohio. I think UConn is your best bet, provided you do decent in the program its an essential shoe-into UConn Med which in-state is a massive deal.

I wouldnt go to Drexel if it was free. If you read the drexel thread people are slamming it recently.

I'd say UConn > Columbia/UVM > Drexel

the people that get into top 20 med schools from Columbia usually have 3.8+ going in, do well in the program, and get a good MCAT score. UConn seems like a good option, none of these programs are particularly elite.

Yeah, but that's true for any program. If have a 3.8 going in, you'll probably get in somewhere. From historical data, it seems that if you have a 3.8 GPA going into the Columbia program, you have a better chance of getting into a top 20 medical school than if go into UConn or Drexel. Besides that, the Columbia program is one of the oldest and most well recognized program out there.

Well I don't have a 3.8 going in. starting with a 3.5 from Penn. Don't really care about an 'elite' program, just really want to maximize my chances for getting into any US med school. wondering if Columbia is worth another 2 years of Ivy bs but if Drexel really has that bad a rep than it may be my best choice if UConn doesn't come through. thanks for the feedback

So where exactly are these threads talking bad about the Drexel post-bac program? Are they saying bad stuff about all of them or just the IMS? I recently got accepted to the MSP, but I'm not so sure if I should go...

*double post and cant delete- sorry*

The historical data presumes you successfully finish the program. Columbia has a very high attrition rate.
