Hi hi,
I graduated with a 3.09 cGPA and a 2.8 sGPA, primarily due to three C's in chemistry and an F in linear algebra. Since then, I’ve been working on a DIY postbacc through UCSD Extension, taking upper-level courses like physiology, immunology, and biochemistry.
I’m considering completing about 7 more upper level bio like genetics and histology courses, which could bring my GPA closer to a 3.2. Is that likely to make a meaningful difference in admissions, or should I be focusing elsewhere like retaking chemistry labs or targeting formal programs?
Are online chemistry lab retakes accepted by most med schools, or do I need to do them in person?
Is UCSD Extension viewed positively by admissions committees, or is there a better online option?
Due to family issues, I’m currently based outside the U.S., so online courses are most feasible for me right now. I can relocate for in-person classes if necessary, but I'd prefer to know whether it’s truly worth it before making that move.
Any input would be appreciated. Thank you.
