ucsd interview advice

hi everyone! i just found this forum last night, and it looks really great + helpful 🙂

i applied to both ucsd and ucsf and got an interview to ucsd (yay!) but was rejected from ucsf. 🙁 did this happen to anyone else? i got the impression they were pretty similar in terms of what they were looking for since they are both in the UC system and ucsd is based off of ucsf. well just curious, and i'm still really happy i got an interview at ucsd cuz it looks like a great place. does anyone else out there have any impressions of it? thanks!

I'm in the same boat with you ... only received invite from UCSD ... admission is pretty random ... you cannot predict the outcome of one school from the result of another school ....

anyone knows that if UCSD gives you at least 2 topics for the essay prompt, and you pick one from it? Or do they give you only one? How's about UOP? thanks

Last year they gave us one topic, but it was not very intense, very laid back....

As far as why you got one from UCSD and not UCSF, I have no idea! I was interviewed at both and was rejected from UCSD but was accepted into UCSF! Strange. You can't get into their heads, although I go up to UCSF admissions all the time now and talk to those running the app process. You learn things like location does not matter one iota. The percentages are low for out of state because less people out of state apply!

Yea, it was, and since it asked about where I would take someone if they came to visit me at home...my home was Phoenix, and not to slander PHX...but it isn't much to speak about in an essay for Pharmacy school.


No idea on UOP, didn't apply there.

hmm.. yea i don't quite get how the apps process work and although i'm glad to have gotten an interview, i'm getting nervous about it.

oh well - good luck to everyone out there. are there any ucsd pharm students on this forum that have impressions to share about the school?
