I'm planning on taking BIMM 101 (recomb lab) and BIMM 121 (microbio lab) for the "full UD bio series lab" and that covers my human bio major lab reqs too.

that's 13 units.
is that too much workload?
haha wsuppp it'd be funny if we knew each other. that schedule should be fine. Physics 1c/cl is pretty chill esp because it includes optics so that's pretty interesting since it is our field haha im actually going to take bimm 121 too! and i need another bio lab but im thinking about taking it during the summer..not sure. i should start organizing spring quarter too. but yea i think those classes together are doable. probably a lot of work for the labs but i think it's gonna be just a lot of writing (lab reports) rather than too much studying. :] gluck! are you graduating this year?
cool! i'm taking bimm 121 w/ chilakuri! i heard she's straightforward. i'm actually not graduating this year, i'm class of 2012, but i'm applying jul 2011. i want to take bimm 101 and 121 b/c of the freaking :full series of bio labs: req for opt school.
i'm taking 1c w/ paddock.
but so how do finals go for UD bio classes? since we have a lecture and lab, do we just hvae a lab mt/final or a lecture mt/final too?
haha yea i actually had chilakuri for bimm 121 at the beginning of this quarter but i was waitlisted until the last minute so i just signed up for ochem lab and dropped bimm 121 haha hopefully ill get in this quarter, she was pretty cool. i never heard of paddock but he got some good comments on ratemyprofessor so you should be good to go. hmm it's interesting that you're taking 2 bio labs this early if you have another year ahead! haha unless you planned out everything i don't think you should cram bio labs unless you really have to cuz you don't need to finish all ur prereqs to apply. i applied without a few prereqs and was considered so unless you really have to, try not to cram labs cuz it might hurt your grades depending on how good you are with time management. andd for finals, i actually haven't taken any bio labs yet. hahaha that sounds weird but yea for other labs though, there's usually a midterm and final in lecture and just lab reports for labs and sometimes quizzes/in lab exams. im actually suppose to be class of '12 too! i bet we had classes together loll
should i email chilakuri? i heard those 2 labs are easy though. like you said i think it will be less studying and more writing. did you get into any opt schools when you applied? i'm taking 2 bio labs because i think they're easier to get higher grades in. my other option is to switch out 121 for cell bio...how is cell bio? is it easy to get an a or b in ?
oops didnt' see this. i don't think you should email her unless you have a question haha i got interviews for all the schools i applied to except suny-they said they'll consider me if i retake the oat. and i recently got accepted to pco and that's where i wanted to go, so after lots of thinking and weighing of pros and cons, i think i'm going to go there. and for cell bio, are you talking about bild 1? it's just a lot of memorization but it's easy memorization. as long as you put the time in, it's easy to do well. the problem is that a lot of ppl slack and get behind and it's hard to cram and memorize all that info if you leave it to the last minute cuz it is a good amount but it'll help you for oat so it's good to stay on top of things 🙂 hope that helped. time to sleep 🙂

cool. I think i'm going to go with that schedule. i like 171 for specific reasons though, so i figured its worth to put the work in...
so if you're really class of 2012 then did you apply the end of your sophomre year? how are you going to finish your BS in 3 years??
yea 171 sounds pretty cool too haha. i applied in december i think lol i'm not sure why but im graduating in 3 years without having to cram much. actually im cramming spring quarter cuz i took some extra arts classes and classes i didn't need for my major but other than that, it just happened that way. i think it's cuz i came in with a good amount of APs and im in muir so ges are pretty easy. yup. so hopefully if everything goes as plan, ill be graduating in the spring. :] maybe ill see you in bimm121! hehe i think i might take the other teacher though. we'll see~
i graduated in '08 from UCSD. i also took bimm 121 with the same professor, she's really great (approachable, really knows her stuff!). i just wanted to say that you shouldn't take the class lightly - you will spend a TON of time researching and writing the final report (Determination of an unknown bacteria).
