I was just working on their secondary application and noticed their LOR requirements. 2 from senior faculty in Dept of Biology or Chemistry plus 1 from faculty in humanities/social sciences.
The problem is i only have 1 from Dept of Biology, 1 from Dept of Math (i was told that for most schools this counts as a science writer), 1 from my TA in Spanish (she was basically the instructor for the course, we never even saw the professor and this counts as a non-science writer for other schools like Michigan).
what should i do? apply with the LOR's I have or just withdraw

Best thing to do is call UCSD and ask. I'm assuming your school doesn't have a Pre-health committee? Cuz that's all I turned in and I have two senior faculty and two physicians letter in my packet with committee letter. But yea, best thing to do is call and ask instead of wasting 60 bucks knowing that you don't mee the reqs. Hope you didn't finish that horrible two pager biopic yet.

I heard my friend emailed them about such an issue and they were quite lenient. Just explain that your other professors know you better than some random bio/chem letter you could get.

Schools realize that not everyone has exactly what they require.

i'm just wondering if I don't have the letters they need would I automatically be rejected or even looked down upon (almost the same thing as being rejected) or are they likely to just look over it and not even notice that i dont have the reqs they wanted.

Not a big deal... I freaked out too when I first heard... but if you have a premed committee/packet... you're all good. If you don't have that and are having your LORs sent directly to each school... then I'd call them and ask to see if they want you to bother getting a hummanities prof. They won't look down upon you at all. So no worries.

Not everyone's a Biology major...

Those requirements seem stupid. I mean someone who majors in English is going to have a pretty difficult time getting 2 LOR's from someone in the Biology department, even if they took the prereq classes.

They're pretty lenient about it. I only had one from a chem professor (co-written by a TA), one by a physics professor, and an english TA co-signed by the professor. I also included a really strong letter from my boss. The admissions person i emailed said it was fine. I got an interview yesterday so i guess it didn't count against me!
