Did anybody who interviewed in mid Jan or later receive an acceptance from UCSF? I interviewed there but have not received anything as of yet. Any insight would be great.

I'd like to know as well. I interviewed there on Jan 23rd and haven't heard anything as well. This waiting game is killing me!

all i know is that adcom met yesterday.
so today is probably our lucky day.
if we dont hear from them, we might need to wait for another wk.
i m still waiting, but i interviewed on feb 2nd.

I interviewed UCSF on Nov. 18, 2003, but did not hear any word yet. However, it is obvious that many people interviewed before or after me had received acceptance. Does it mean.......

I had asked their admissions coordinator last week how far along they were in filling the class. She said about forty have been selected so far. Hang in there everyone, there's still hope!!!🙂

You know, one of the admission staff person told me that they are closing the dental technician or hygene program next year due to lack of funding. I think the CA financial crisis is really taking a beat down at both UC's. The curriculum change seems to be more financial driven than for students' benefit. I am not sure how much budget will they have and how much they have to cut. Could anyone share their thought on school's budget and how it will affect the quality of education at ucsf and ucla or any other school in general?

Anyhow, UC is still my first choice.

i interviewed there end of Jan. i was told that i won't find out till early March.

The curriculum change is not really financially driven as much as it is to cut down on redundant didactic courses. By the way, if there are any people considering UCSF (which you should by far DO!).... the curriculum will be alot better. All of the didactics are combined into one course-block system. They will only be teaching didactics as it relates to dentistry. More time will be devoted into the clinic... I mean more...

Don't be steered to think that the new curriculum is bad...
UCLA should not even be a choice... Their clinics are horrible... but then again... do u want to be a clinician or a teacher of dentistry?

guys/gals dont be drawn by the fact thay they have not called u with an acceptance. Those that rec'vd acceptances in January have a time period to claim their space (i dont know why they wouldnt) and then it goes off like that.

If u got an interview at UCSF, you have a chance....

PERFECT....U looked sharp !!!!!!!!!!!!11

But you know, the financial crisis still worries me, do u?

it was very to nice to see you and M.

who knows, maybe i'll see you guys a lot more soon.🙂

So I called the UCSF Admissions Information # (415) 476-2737 - and it says within the automated message -that if you want to speak with an admissions counselor "on anything except your application status, please press 3"

and it continues to say "we use infosource to update your application status"

But my infosource says:
Received/Application Complete: Most Recent Update by
Dental Schools: 12/05/03

and since that time I have been there for an interview (most schools would at least put "invited for interview", but it has not changed)

Anyway, the question is: Have any of you called the school and by-passed their menu (in-spite of what the message says to do)?

Just wondering, because they are obviously not updating infosource, but the message indicates that they don't want you to call for app. status either.

Please advise

yeah i called today too and i just bypassed the message and spoke with bob and he told me that they would call us if there were any updates. he said that the class hasn't been filled yet and that they are TRYING to fill up the class by march. he said that i should be able to know by march so i guess a couple more weeks of waiting for us.

I was told something similar to that as well.
